Play Suspended Due to Heat

FORT WORTH, Texas (July 30, 2019) – After four hours of play at the Friedman Tennis Center, play was suspended after heat index levels reached a level deemed unsafe for player activity Tuesday on Day 2 of the Fort Worth Pro Women’s Tennis Classic.

Seven of eight final round matches in the qualifying rounds were able to be completed as seven seeded players earned their way into the main draw.

Tope seeded qualifier Salome Devidze had to battle against Wisconsin tennis student-athlete Alexis Keberle to earn her spot. The match lasted for two hours and 40 minutes as Devidze managed a three-set victory, 6-2, 6-7(4), 10-8. She and the other six winners from this morning will await their draw into the main singles competition upon completion of the final qualifying match between 10-seeded Vanessa Ong and Florida student-athlete McCartney Kessler tomorrow morning, Kessler currently is up one set, 6-4, 2-2.

Matches will resume promptly at 9 a.m. as the first round of singles main draw and doubles play kicks off.
