Four Collegiate Players Headline Doubles Finale

FORT WORTH, Texas (August 7, 2015) – Four current collegiate players will headline the doubles final on Saturday at the Holt Jeep $10K Fort Worth Women’s Pro Circuit Event at the Bayard H. Friedman Tennis Center on the campus of TCU.

Florida sophomore Josie Kuhlman and partner Maegan Manasse, who is a junior at Cal, advanced to the final after downing Veronica M. Corning and Jessica Wacnik of the United States, 6-2, 7-5.

The duo will face off with Duke freshman Jessica Ho and USC senior Giuliana Olmos in the doubles final on Saturday after the pair were successful over Lauren Herring and TCU senior Mia King in the final match on Friday, 6-3, 6-2.

On the singles side of the tournament, only one seeded player remains in Olmos, after top seed Lou Brouleau of France and Zoe Hives of Australia were bounced in the quarterfinals.

Olmos opened the day in the first match by beating local favorite and TCU freshman Marie Norris, 6-4, 1-6, 6-4. She advances to the semifinals and will have to take on Vanderbilt senior Frances Altick of the United States who defeated No. 4 seed Hives, 4-6, 6-3, 3-0, ret.

The other semifinal on Saturday will feature Maria-Fernanda Alves of Brazil who took out top seed Brouleau, 2-6, 6-1, 6-2. The Brazilian will have to take on former world No. 209, Ulrikke Eikeri of Norway, who was able to easily handle Kuhlman, 6-0, 6-1

The semifinals of singles and the doubles championship match will take place on the Bernard J. ‘Tut’ Bartzen Varsity Courts and begin at 9 a.m., on Saturday.

The Holt Jeep Women’s $10K USTA Pro Circuit event will continue to be held at the Bayard H. Friedman Tennis Center on the campus of TCU until Sunday, Aug. 9. Professional athletes from around the world will be competing for $10,000 in prize money, as well as valuable WTA Tour Ranking points.
