FORT WORTH, Texas (August 9, 2015) – Two qualifiers battled it out for the singles crown at the 2015 Holt Jeep $10K Fort Worth Women’s Pro Circuit Event on Sunday with former world No. 209 Ulrikki Eikeri coming out on top with a 6-3, 6-1 victory over Frances Altick of the United States.
This was the eighth straight victory and fifth straight-set win for Eikeri, who easily handled the Vanderbilt senior to earn the 12 ranking points and $1,568 in prize money.
The first set was narrated by long rallies, as neither player could hold serve to start the match and the two battled it out to a 3-3 tie. Eikeri then powered through by breaking Altick four times in the first set to finish it out on top, 6-3.
Eikeri was able to take the first two games to open the second set, before Altick broke Eikeri to get her first point of the set. That would be the only point she would get, as her ninth match in nine days proved to be too much. The Norwegian took the final four games to close out the set, 6-1, and take the singles crown.
Today’s championship match concludes the 2015 Holt Jeep Women’s $10K USTA Pro Circuit event. Qualifier and No. 844 Eikeri claims the singles championship, while Florida sophomore Josie Kuhlman and Cal junior Maegan Manasse partnered to win the doubles title on Saturday.
