FORT WORTH, Texas (August 1, 2019) – With the calendar shifting to August the intensity of the Fort Worth Women’s Pro Tennis Classic has been ratcheted up. The quarterfinals in both singles and doubles competitions have been set as the tournament continues into the weekend.
In singles play, just three seeded singles players remain in contention, including sixth seeded Olivia Tjandramulia. The 22-yr-old Australian has been in excellent form this week, having won 24 of 30 games to this point. She hasn’t dropped more than two games in a single set to this point as she prepares for her quarterfinal matchup against Alexa Glatch.
Another intriguing quarterfinals match involves a rematch from qualifiers as Lauren Proctor looks for another victory against lucky loser, Chanelle Van Nguyen. Proctor managed a 6-3, 7-6(4) victory in the qualifying final round. Van Nguyen has rebounded to win both her main draw matches in straight sets and reach her second quarterfinals of the 2019 season, she has yet to advance to the semifinals in a tournament this year.
In doubles competition, TCU women’s tennis players Ellie Douglas and Kate Paulus have each reached the quarterfinals with their respective partners. It’s the first quarterfinals appearance in doubles play for both players on the ITF circuit as they continue to strive to become the first active TCU players to win a professional tournament title in Fort Worth.
